OSAKA LOVE HOTEL - KYOTO END OF BLOSSOM
Inkjet print on cotton paper, ed. 5, 60x40 cm each, 2019
The photographic diptych reflects on the duality of love in relation to the Japanese concept of honne and tatemae. Honne means “true sound” and are a person's true feelings and desires; while tatemae ("built in front", “façade”) are the behaviour and opinions one displays in public.
In the same way the faint light of the red lamp hides the extravaganza of a Love Hotel’s room in Osaka and the last petals of a cherry tree are the ultimate witnesses of a now gone desire.
